Secure Privacy supports website rescanning from two geographic locations — the **EU** and the **US** — allowing you to verify and update the services and cookies detected in your privacy policy and cookie declaration based on where your visitors are located. This guide explains how to select a scan location and trigger a rescan.

## Who Is This For?

- Website administrators verifying cookie detection from EU and US scan locations

- Compliance teams ensuring cookie declarations reflect region-specific tracking behavior

- Developers updating scan location settings after implementing changes to their website

## How to Select a Scan Location and Trigger a Website Rescan

1. Log into your Secure Privacy account and select the domain you want to work with.

2. Navigate to the **Scan report** section in the left sidebar, click on the **Settings** tab.

3. From the **Scan Location** dropdown, select **United States**, tap **Save** to apply the changes.

4. Switch to the **Latest Scan Report** tab and click **Rescan Website** to start a new scan using the updated location. _Note:_ Currently, only two scan locations are supported: European Union and United States.

**Note:** The rescan will detect cookies and services as they appear to visitors from the selected geographic location. Results may differ between EU and US scans depending on region-specific tracking scripts active on your website.

## Frequently Asked Questions

### Why does the scan location affect which cookies are detected?

Some third-party services and advertising platforms serve different scripts or trackers to visitors depending on their geographic location. Scanning from both EU and US locations allows you to identify region-specific cookies that may only appear for visitors in one region — ensuring your cookie declaration is accurate for all your audiences.

### How often should I rescan my website?

Rescanning is recommended whenever you make changes to your website — such as adding new plugins, third-party services, or marketing scripts. Regular rescans (at minimum quarterly) also help ensure your cookie declaration stays current as third-party vendors update their tracking behavior.

### Do I need to rescan from both EU and US locations?

If your website serves visitors from both regions, scanning from both locations is recommended to ensure your cookie declaration captures all services active for each audience. Region-specific advertising or analytics tools may only be visible in scans from the relevant geographic location.
