Introducing the 'Template' -> 'Policies' page, a standing pillar that equips you with structured control over the key policies of your website. Because transparency and privacy preservation are critical components of building customer trust, you - as a website owner, must ensure that your site's privacy and cookie policies are not only compliant but also transparent and easily accessible and this can significantly enhance your users' trust. Our "Template" -> "Policies" page offers intuitive, easy-to-customize tools to help you achieve this. It provides full-scale functionalities to preview, modify, and enforce multiple policy settings. This guide will provide an in-depth walk-through of each UI item, providing a clear and detailed explanation.

To use these features, first, log into your account on our platform. Once logged in, go to the "Template" option in your dashboard, where you can select and preview or modify a specific template. Then, navigate to the "Policies" section to manage your policy settings.

Once navigated to this section, we can see the following items:

- ENABLE COOKIE POLICY

This switch allows you to activate the use of cookie policy on your website. The cookie policies are preconfigured for each of the pre-loaded templates, simplifying your setup process.

- ENABLE PRIVACY POLICY

Much like the 'Enable Cookie Policy', this allows you to activate a privacy policy on your site. The procedure is almost identical, as the policies are already preconfigured for each pre-loaded template.

- DOMAIN

Here, you're given the option to preview specific policies for different domains. Simply choose your desired domain from the drop-down list and then use the "Preview" widget below.

- PREVIEW

This functionality allows you to preview how your policy will look on different devices - desktop, tablet, and mobile. However, keep in mind that the preview may not be precisely exact. You also have the option to switch to full-screen mode for better visualization.

Clicking the "EDIT" button a top will switch the UI to "Editor" mode, if you need to preview in more detail and/or adjust your policy content.

(1) Language

Each of the policies comes preconfigured and pre-translated for you and can be reviewed / edited if needed in multiple languages. Additional languages can be added or removed under the Template -> Settings page.

(2) Privacy policy

This feature enables you to customize an essential aspect of your website, the Privacy Policy. You have the possibility to edit text, add hyperlinks, or manipulate the level of headings based on your legal requirements. You can add more sections if needed by pressing '+Add section' positioned at the top or the bottom of the privacy policy. To navigate it better, clicking on a specific section name allows you to scroll and review it at a glance. Special "shortcodes" (like [sp-legal-basis]) are incorporated to include domain-specific information, which automatically expands with generated data from the policies page of the relevant domain. The privacy policy closes with the 'Contact us' section, which is auto-filled with your domain data, ensuring smoother correspondence.

(3) Cookie declaration

This section is crucial as it informs your website visitors about the cookies used on your site. This section has a similar functionality to the privacy policy, with the exception that it contains unique pre-defined sections describing cookies detected on the implemented domain.  It also comes with the ability for you to edit the text, add hyperlinks, change heading levels, and add personalized text per legal requirements.

When required, you can add sections at the top or bottom of the cookie declaration by simply pressing "+ Add section." If you wish to scroll into view, just click on the section name on the left of the text.

Additionally, the cookie policy includes "shortcodes," such as [sp-cookie-categories] or [sp-preferences-cookies], which populate with correct domain data, once viewed on the website itself.

Moreover, special links like [sp-gdpr-trust-badge] enable visitors to open the preference center to adjust their privacy options while viewing the cookie declaration.

Clicking the "Next Step" button or "Embed" button atop will bring the "Embed" page, allowing you to implement the previewed/edited policies on your domain seamlessly.

(4) Language

As always, this feature enables you to customize the text for the embed button or hyperlink in any of the languages assigned to your template.

(5) Embed Options: Type

The three options here allow you to decide how your policy appears on your website - as a button, hyperlink, or as a direct embed. The 'Button' option creates a clickable icon that directs visitors to your policy page when clicked. The 'Hyperlink' option, on the other hand, allows you to incorporate a clickable link into your website's text, for example, in the footer section with other legal information. The direct 'Embed on Website' option instantly integrates your policy into the site as an iframe, making it readily and fully visible to all visitors.

(6) Text Settings

This is where you determine the actual text of the embed button or hyperlink, using any of the languages assigned to your template.

(7) Preview

This helps you visualize how your policy looks across different devices - desktop, tablet, and mobile. Although the preview may not be 100% accurate, it provides a good sense of the final look and feel.

(8) Shortcode

This is the code that needs to be inserted on your website to display policies. This feature generates a code depending on the selected embed type option - button, hyperlink, direct embed (iframe) - which can be applied on your site.

In conclusion, the "Template" -> "Policies" page offers a comprehensive suite of features that help you maintain and manage your website's policies efficiently. With this guide, you can now comfortably navigate and utilize each feature to ensure your templates align with your specific requirements. Add, remove, or edit policies as per your requirements to ensure your website continues to meet the needs of your users, and remains compliant with the necessary regulations. Please remember, ensuring that your site’s policy is correctly configured and embedded not only increases your website's SEO performance but also improves user experience and boosts your site's overall credibility.
