How to Install Secure Privacy on Joomla

Introduction

Getting the Secure Privacy Script Code

  1. After activating your email address, you will see a screen to choose your preferred installation method.
  2. Select Joomla.

  3. Copy the script code displayed on the screen and save it in any location that is accessible.
  4. Keep the tab open and open a new tab to continue with the Joomla plugin installation.


Installing Joomla Plugin

  1. Download the Secure Privacy Joomla Plugin.
  2. In Joomla administrator mode (usually at www.yourJoomlaWebsite.com/administrator), go to System.

  3. Under Install, click Extensions. You will see an option to upload files.

  4. Click Browse for file and upload the downloaded .zip plugin file.
  5. If installation is successful, you will see: Installation of the plugin was successful. Then click Manage Extensions.

  6. Search for Secure Privacy and click the icon under the Status column to enable the extension. You will get a confirmation message.

  7. Go back to System and click Plugins under Manage.

  8. Search for Secure Privacy using the provided search box.

  9. Click the plugin name to open configuration. Paste the script you copied earlier into the installation script field.
    Note: If you are accessing this tutorial when adding a new domain from Secure Privacy Dashboard, copy the script code from the Installation screen.

  10. Save your changes. You will see a message: Plugin saved.

Note - If you are referring to this documentation when adding a new domain from the Secure Privacy dashboard, after the above step, go back to the Secure Privacy screen and click Test Installation. You should see a relevant message confirming the status of Joomla plugin installation for your respective domain.


Continue Secure Privacy Setup

  1. Return to the Secure Privacy onboarding tab.
  2. Click Test Installation.

  3. Look for the toast notification at the bottom-left of the screen confirming a successful Joomla plugin installation.


Common Issues & Fixes

Plugin does not appear after installation.
Ensure the zip file was correctly uploaded and the installation success message was received.
Unable to enable the plugin.
Check user permissions in Joomla and confirm you have administrator access.
Installation script is not working.
Verify that the exact script code from Secure Privacy is correctly pasted and saved without edits.
